Two weeks ago<\/a>, Nina Pierpont testified (teleconference) before the Australian Federal Senate’s Community Affairs Committee<\/a>, as it holds public hearings on wind turbines and health (among other matters).<\/p>\n

During the course of the interview, the Senators referred to a report by the Government’s National Health and Medical Research Council<\/a>. \u00a0The\u00a0\u201cWind Turbines and Health: \u00a0A Rapid Review of the Evidence<\/a>” (July 2010) report, which loftily dismisses Wind Turbine Syndrome as simply anecdote.<\/p>\n

The Senators asked Pierpont if she had read the report. \u00a0“Yes, I have<\/em>,” she replied.<\/p>\n

And what do you think of it, they pressed? \u00a0“I consider it pitiful and dubious science<\/em>.”<\/p>\n

The next day, “Wind Turbines Report ‘Pitiful’<\/a><\/em>” was headline news.<\/p>\n

Pitiful and dubious?<\/em> Is this possible—from the government’s chief medical and health agency? \u00a0You could almost hear the Senators gasp! \u00a0Would Dr. Pierpont be kind enough to write a rebuttal to this “pitiful” report, they gingerly asked?<\/p>\n

Although he didn’t personally write the report, Anderson has publicly taken responsibility, boldly expressing his full support and endorsement<\/a>. \u00a0Including support for its scientific rigor. \u00a0No kidding!<\/p>\n

Which is a pity. \u00a0Anderson has better credentials than this. \u00a0The report is worthy neither of him nor the agency he directs.<\/p>\n
