Here’s where the feds (Interior Dept and Dept of Energy) intend to install wind\u00a0factories<\/a>.<\/p>\n How does this square with “Fish and Wind Turbines Don’t Mix<\/a>“? (Consider, as well, “Wind Turbines in Lake Michigan<\/a>.”)<\/p>\n What will the acoustic waste products do to sealife—to\u00a0the last wild place<\/em>?<\/p>\n As a philosopher of history<\/a>, I ask what it will do to whatever remains embedded within us of the ancient birthright of humanness. \u00a0That “thoughtworld” Aldous Huxley called Mind at Large. <\/em>That cognitive commonwealth of “wildness” that made us what we are.<\/p>\n The implications are deeply troubling.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n \u00b7<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n It is a dilemma\u00a0Rachel Carson<\/a> and Aldo Leopold<\/a> likewise worried about.<\/p>\n Now, perhaps more than ever, it is upon us.<\/p>\n \u00b7<\/span><\/p>\n
