went on, is that my neighbours on each side of me suffer from anxiety and panic attacks, as well as the lady we bought the house from. [She] said she did too, and now me! "I am very upset about not finding these things out until now, or else I never would have bought a home within 10 miles of the things. "Thank god for scientists like Nina, because it sounds like windmills are going to become big business, and research like this might put a stop to that. They said tanning beds were safe not that long ago. We know now that's not the case---20 years later!" Michelle Editor's note: This posting arrived as a comment to "Buy the Book." The author didn't furnish a last name or address. From the spelling of "neighbour," I am guessing she's in Canada or the "Before these families could escape the nightmare of their unliveable homes, they had to agree to sign strict nondisclosure contracts---in other words, gag-orders to protect the wind companies. The wind company has spent over $1.75 million dollars clandestinely buying out these people, yet it claims there were no [health] complaints. "This list of residents is not yet conclusive.

» Ashbee PT LT 29 CON 7, PT 1 7R742; Amaranth » Fraser 58234 County Rd 17, Melancthon » Benvenete Pt Lts 284 & 285, Con 4, Melancthon » Brownell Pt Lt 29, Con 5, Pt 1, 7R787, Amaranth » Williams 58232 County Rd, RR 6 Melancthon » Barlow Pt Lt 1, Con 5, Melancthon "Why is this happening? "Industrial Wind Turbines were allowed to be sited too close to residences. This caused severe noise and adverse health affects including cardiac arrhythmia, sleep disturbance, fatigue, increased stress levels and loss of cognitive function. "Their homes became unfit for human habitation. The purchases by the wind developer are an admission that wind turbines have created health issues that impact residents. "Unfortunately, the wind industry and the McGuinty government have failed to publicly acknowledge or act on health issues and the pleas for help from the families impacted. This government is pushing this agenda with full knowledge of the existing problems and the potential for many more going forward. Meanwhile the McGuinty government refuses to conduct proper health studies."

Fact . . .

"Nicole Geneau, project manager with NEXTera, along with two consultants, visited Brockton council [Ontario, Canada] to provide information on two six-turbine sites planned for lands near Formosa and Paisley. Geneau told council her company is the largest owner and operator of wind turbines in North America, with 8,200 operating in 65 different projects across 24 states and two provinces. "'I have not heard one single complaint,' Geneau said. 'That tells us the process we're using is working. We use the best science and follow regulations'" (The Walkerton Herald-Times, Ontario, Canada, 8/20/09).

Counter-fact . . .

"Ms. Geneau, I'm sure you remember sitting at Daniel d'Entremont's kitchen table only weeks before this meeting [above]. He had to abandon his house in Feb 2006 with family in tow and still has no resolution and no home. d'Entremont home, Nova Scotia, Canada "Nicole Geneau along with Josie Hernandez and Winston Kutte were sitting at Mr. d'Entremont's kitchen table in Nova Scotia on July 25th [2009], only two weeks prior to these Ontario meetings [above], saying that they didn't know what they could do for him. He would just have to walk away and start over again. "He has since been told by NEXTera they don't have enough money to offer any compensation whatsoever, with everything else they have to do, like buying a new office location. And so Daniel, his wife and children are moving around, living with understanding relatives with no place to call home" (Wind Concerns Ontario, 8/20/09, emphasis added).

---Jen Lynds Bangor Daily News August 12, 2009

MARS HILL, Maine---Wendy Todd acknowledged Tuesday afternoon that she and her husband, Perrin Todd, knew that wind towers likely would be erected behind their property before they started building their home on the east side of Mars Hill in late 2005. "We knew it was likely," she said. "But we had educated ourselves about the project. We attended at least two informational meetings before the project began and another meeting before the permit for the project was approved. "During all of these meetings," she continued, "We were told that noise would not be an issue, that the windmills were ‘gentle giants.' We were told that you would have to be within 500 feet to hear anything, and that the visual aspect of the project would be the hardest thing to get over. We felt that we could get past that, so we believed we were all set." That, Todd said Tuesday, was wrong. And now the Todds are joining with others who live near the windmills to try to rectify the situation. The family and 16 neighbors have recently filed a civil suit in Aroostook County Superior Court in Caribou against First Wind, two construction firms and the town of Mars Hill. Peter Kelley, the attorney for the group, said Tuesday that his clients have seen the quality of life they experienced before the windmills were constructed slip from their grasp. He said his clients are alleging that they were not properly notified about all that the construction process entailed. Noise, which Wendy Todd said Tuesday was not supposed to be an issue, continues to reverberate from the wind farm. Headaches and frayed nerves are now a problem, according to Todd, and property values among the homes allegedly affected by the project have diminished. Kelley said his clients want compensation for their alleged loss of peace, enjoyment and quality of life, the reported drop in their property values, and the emotional and physical stresses they are dealing with since the wind farm became operational. Massachusetts-based First Wind also goes by the name Evergreen Wind Power in Maine. The 28 turbines in Mars Hill began spinning late in 2006. First Wind also operates industrial wind energy facilities on Stetson Mountain in northern Washington County and has several other projects in the pipeline. Todd said she and her husband were initially in favor of the project because of the economic benefits and the positive environmental effects of renewable energy. At all of the meetings she and her family attended, Todd stressed, they were told by those involved that noise "would not be an issue." "As soon as they turned on the first windmill, I knew they were wrong," she recalled. "People here were just flabbergasted. We had already dealt with the noise of them blasting and clearing land, and then we heard the windmills. We knew we had made a mistake." The Todds described hearing a "phfoop . . . phfoop . . . phfoop" noise when the first windmill was turned on. Noise issues were taken to town officials in January 2007. "The noise has gotten worse," said Todd. "Our neighbors have complained of having headaches and having trouble sleeping." The couple has taken steps to protect their three children. "They live in rooms that are farthest away from the noise," she said. "They have never shown any physical symptoms, but they have complained that the noise scares them." Todd said one of the biggest problems is that no one "realized the depth of the project." She added that residents in the town had no idea what the sounds and size of the towers and the visual effects of them would be like because they had nothing to compare them to. "Nothing like it had ever happened here," she added. Before the lawsuit, the Todds talked with officials from the town and First Wind, and met with legislators at home and in Augusta. They also attended legislative committee meetings in Augusta. "But nothing seemed to happen," said Todd. The Mars Hill resident said she and others have contemplated moving, and the Todds have talked to noise experts about soundproofing the home. "But even then, I do not think it would be mitigated," she added. First Wind spokesman John Lamontagne said Tuesday afternoon that he could not comment on pending litigation. He stressed, however, that others in Mars Hill are happy with the project and that the company completed all the necessary steps in order to construct the wind farm. The Mars Hill project underwent a detailed process with the state Department of Environmental Protection. He added that the windmills also brought jobs and environmental and financial benefits to the town. Mars Hill town officials could not be reached for comment late Tuesday. Todd said she wants stricter rules in place for the establishment of wind farms in the state as well as a way to improve the situation in Mars Hill. In the meantime, she said Tuesday, "our lives are on hold." "Do we leave a home we love?" she asked. "And what will the long-term effects of exposure to the windmills be? There are so many questions." Click here for a related article and audio report by the Maine Public Broadcasting Network.]]>

· "Farmers flee as turbines trigger despair

· ---Lauren Wilson, The Australian 8-22-09 For 35 years, Noel and Janine Dean lived on a small western Victorian farm, where they raised crops, cattle and three children. They planned to spend the rest of their lives on that lush, green plot of land, but that would change three years ago, when an executive driving a red BMW approached the gates of their property, wound down his window and asked: "You got anything against wind farms?" "As long as they're not noisy I don't," replied Mr Dean, who had no objection to his Waubra neighbours---most of them struggling farmers---earning tens of thousands of dollars a year leasing their pastures to Spanish-based renewable energy company Acciona. Three months ago the first of 128 turbines started turning and almost instantly Mr Dean became sick. He started waking with headaches, initially dull but, over time, sharp and debilitating. "I was waking up two days in a row with headaches, I'd have to take Panadol but they'd be gone by dinner time," he said. "When the wind is blowing north I got a thumping headache, like someone belted me over the head with a plank of wood and I didn't know whether to go to the hospital or what to do. You couldn't really work." His wife also began experiencing an inexplicable malaise. At first she put her nausea, sleeplessness and uneasiness down to a new diet. Then she thought it might be menopause. It was only after the 57-year-old couple travelled to their other property, in Donald, in northern Victoria, and instantly felt well again, that they wondered whether the turbines were churning away at their health. Now the couple have packed up and moved permanently to nearby Ballarat. They want the energy companies and policy-makers to stop and consider the possible health effects of wind farms before meandering lines of turbines start popping up across the countryside to meet the government's 2020 renewable energy target endorsed by the Senate this week. In Waubra alone, a further 60 turbines are flagged for instalment. US doctor Nina Pierpont has coined the term "wind-turbine syndrome" for a raft of symptoms, including insomnia, headaches, dizziness, nausea and depression, experienced by people living in close proximity to wind farms. The problems are said to be caused by constant exposure to low-frequency vibrations and inaudible sound pressure, as well as the constant flicker of light generated by the spinning blades. To better understand the noises and vibrations being generated by the wind farm, Mr Dean purchased a decibel, or sound pressure, reader. In consultation with Graeme Hood, an engineer with the University of Ballarat, Mr Dean conducted tests over several days in his bedroom. When he measured the sound pressure for audible noise the wind turbines registered a mere 20 decibels, equivalent to the sound of a whisper or the rustle of leaves. But when Mr Dean set the reader on another frequency, measuring audible and inaudible noises, he said the sound pressure from the turbines registered between 70 and 80 decibels, akin to being within proximity of a vacuum cleaner or power drill. Now Mr Hood is undertaking a series of control tests of his own to determine more clearly how much sound pressure the wind turbines are creating in Waubra. "There is a possibility they (the turbines) are generating frequencies below audible tones," Mr Hood said. "Many people say that if you can't hear it, you're not affected by it, but other people say things like infrasound---or inaudible noise---can resonate in body cavities and cause other types of problems." It is a notion that Acciona, the energy company behind the Waubra wind farm, firmly rejects. In a statement to The Weekend Australian, a spokesman said: "There is no clear, consistent scientific data, nor a peer-reviewed expert scientific consensus, to confirm a causal association between modern wind turbines, low-frequency noise and health concerns. That is the position of Acciona Energy in response to a resident's allegation of ill health said to be associated with claimed low-frequency noise, or infrasound, generated by the company's Waubra wind farm." Federal Environment Minister Peter Garrett last month released a wind farm policy statement to help energy companies navigate the layers of state and federal legislation relating to energy levels. As chair of the Environment Protection and Heritage Council, Mr Garrett will also work with state and territory governments to develop a set of guidelines for wind farms for consideration next year. His office was not able to say yesterday whether the council has considered regulating the level of low-frequency, sub-audible noise generated by wind farms as well as the audible noise. In Waubra, it is not just the Deans who are experiencing worrying symptoms since the turbines began spinning. Chef Trish Godfrey ploughed her superannuation into a 4ha block at Waubra nine years ago. Like the Deans, she was paid a visit by the same executive who asked her if she would oppose a wind farm. "We anticipated that there would be about 15 turbines around us, and that we could plant trees to screen them. All of the farmers around us wanted the wind farm and we didn't want to argue," she said. Now, as Ms Godfrey prepares food for delivery from her kitchen inside her dream home, she looks out on 65 turbines that surround her on all flanks. She is convinced her health is suffering. "It feels like I have a head-cold coming the whole time. It's like motion sickness that never goes away. Some days it's worse than others. I am a very energetic person and by mid-afternoon all I want to do is sleep," she said. Ms Godfrey is devastated that the value of her property---now, as she describes, in the eye of an industrial estate---would have dropped through the floor. "We have no quality of life and who would want to buy our house now? What was to be our superannuation has now gone," she said, sobbing. Neighbour Maggie Reid, whose blood pressure has soared in the past three months, said the wind farm has been a sorely divisive venture for the community. "It's split the community into the haves and the have-nots. You try to raise your concerns and all you hear is, ‘You're just jealous you don't have them,'" Ms Reid said.]]>

"No relief for land owners affected by wind farms"

· ---Lauren Wilson, The Australian 8/24/09 People who find themselves living next door to a wind farm are unlikely to have their land compulsorily acquired, despite some residents complaining that the turbines are hurting their health. Michael Pickering, an expert on compulsory acquisition with LAC Lawyers in Melbourne, said there is no straightforward legal process open to landowners who believe their properties should have been acquired before energy companies were permitted to erect large turbines. A wind farm has been established at the western Victorian town of Waubra, where Spanish-based renewable energy company Acciona leased land from local farmers to erect 128 wind towers. Local chef Trish Godfrey, whose home and professional kitchen is surrounded by 65 wind turbines, said her property should have been acquired by either the state government or the energy company. Ms Godfrey said she has experienced almost constant nausea and headaches since the wind farm became operational in the past three months. A spokesman for Victorian Planning Minister Justin Madden said that while the government was committed to ensuring consultation was undertaken with communities near wind farms and other developments, “we do not have a policy of compulsorily acquiring properties on behalf of or impacted by private businesses ventures.” Mr Pickering said once a wind farm was established, it was difficult for landowners to “unscramble the omelette” and secure compulsory acquisition compensation. “The time to intervene is at the planning stage and adjoining land owners should make the argument then,” he said. In Waubra, Ms Godfrey said her only alternative was to move out of her dream home. “It would break my heart but I think that is the only option, I can’t cope any longer, I just hope to move out with dignity.” ·]]>

"Going with the wind"

· ---Terrie Lloyd, Japan Today 8/23/09 An article in the Nikkei recently may well spell trouble for the fledgling alternative energy industry—and particularly for the wind power generation sector, where most energy investment has taken place in Japan. Apparently residents in the town of Toyohashi, Aichi Prefecture, have petitioned a wind turbine farm operator (Nikkei doesn’t mention who) to close down their plant in the evening hours—on the basis that low frequency noise emanating from the wind farm is causing residents in the area serious health problems. According to the formal complaint, the residents have said that in the 18 months since the plant went into operation, those people living within 1-2 km of the wind farm have been suffering from a range of ailments including severe headaches, dizziness and buzzing in the ears. This is not the first time such complaints have been made by people living near wind farms, but it does appear to be the first time that such complaints will be formally investigated by the Environment Ministry. This could become a serious issue, because Japan has become increasingly committed to wind power, installing thousands of wind farms around its coast line so as to reduce national dependence on foreign hydrocarbon energy sources. If it is found that low frequency sound is a genuine health hazard, then future farms will probably be subject to more restrictive legislation, which will at least require them to be located further away from inhabited locations—something hard to do in overpopulated Japan. Apparently, Japan now has about 1,500 wind farms generating around 1.86 GW of electricity (FY 2008). The installed base is expanding at a rapid clip, up 1,300% in terms of energy produced in the last eight years, and production is likely to grow another 20% (my estimate) next year. The largest operator, with about 20% of the nation’s capacity is Eurus, which is a joint venture between TEPCO and Toyota Tsusho—two of Japan’s most powerful companies. As a result, wind will probably continue to be the fastest growing alternative energy source in Japan, certainly more so than solar, hydro, and geothermal. Perhaps the reason that the Environment Ministry is paying attention is because last year a new illness, dubbed Wind Turbine Syndrome (WTS), was identified by New York-based pediatrician, Nina Pierpont. Pierpont studied the health problems of 10 families living close to wind farms and concluded that the installations are probably causing an outbreak of sleep disorders, accelerated heart disease [this is inaccurate—Editor], panic attacks, headaches, learning problems by children, and other stress-related disorders. She took her claims to Congress, and testified in late summer last year, as to the problem. [Nina Pierpont has not testified before Congress, only before an energy committee of the NYS Legislature—Editor.] In Pierpont’s research, and indeed, from the complaints that have been trickling in from all over Japan as well, these ailments appear to manifest themselves within days of a nearby wind farm going into operation and so are easy for people to associate with the turbines. If the health claims turn out to be true, then according to Pierpont, one effective measure is to establish a minimum 2-km buffer around each wind installation, with possibly greater distances if the farm has line of site, is upwind, or is otherwise able to cause direct sound and sight disturbances to residents. There has been substantial research done into wind turbines and health, and it seems that if there were any negative health influences, they would be from possible low frequency noise, not from visual or other effects. Research shows that most large turbines do generate noise, some of which is in the audible spectrum, but most of which occurs in the 10 Hz to 50 Hz range—well outside the range of hearing. However, Pierpont says that while you may not be able to directly hear the beating of the air by the turbine blades, according to what she is seeing, people are still “feeling” the turbine vibrations. She thinks that the low frequency beats are resonating in the inner ear and disrupting the hearer’s sense of balance and spatial orientation. This is leading to headaches and disorientation, and thus to the less clearly defined symptoms of anxiety, nightmares, and cognitive development problems in small kids. As might be expected, noise experts have anticipated such claims and in 2005, a UK expert published a vigorous defense of wind turbines and the unlikeliness of their causing health problems. He went on record as saying that modern forward-facing turbine installations create very little noise and that which is created is attenuated over short distances. He is certain that no subsonic noise is heard or felt by human beings. Pierpont’s response to such statements is to point out that while these experts may well be experts in sound, that does not make them experts in human physiology, nor have they investigated actual sufferers at actual sites. She has been challenging the energy industry to err on the side of caution and to at least implement the 2-km buffer zone. I think that her recommendations sound reasonable, and with the tobacco debacle (i.e., industry claims that tobacco is not proven to cause lung cancer) fresh in our minds, there is no doubt that her claims need proper investigation—as I hope will happen when the Environment Ministry gets involved. My hope is that rather than stop the further installation of more wind farms, that adequate protective measures will be put in place to ensure nearby residents are not impacted health-wise. If separation distance requirements can’t be achieved on land, and certainly it’s not just the sounds but also the sight of wind turbine farms that turn people off, then perhaps over-the-horizon off-shore installations are the way to go. The Japanese already have good experience in creating artificial islands and floating platforms, and so this would be reasonably easy (although more expensive) for them to achieve. Alternatively, they could start moving toward smaller, less noisy installations. Much the way that personal solar cell arrays are being promoted. In my mind, the government should offer incentives for land owners to build their own personal wind turbine installations, feeding power back to the grid. ·]]>

Wisconsin's Guinea Pigs http://www.kselected.com/?p=3724 Mon, 24 Aug 2009 14:30:56 +0000 http://www.windturbinesyndrome.com/?p=3724 I went to Madison, Wisconsin, on May 12, 2009, as did 2 busloads of people from the area. We live in the Blue Sky Green Field Wind Energy Center, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin. (It's more proplerly an industrial complex, not "energy center.") I listened to heart-wenching testimony for 6.5 hours before it was my turn. That little "three minute speech” I’d been staring at for hours went out the window. "Mad" doesn’t cover it. I was incensed at what some of the good citizens of Wisconsin have been asked to endure. I blew my cool. The whole NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) thing will never hold water until they begin putting these 400 foot structures into the parks system, or federally protected lands. How about golf courses? Let the public at large really see what it might be like to have 88 of them in their backyard on a day and night basis. Only then could it be called fair distribution of the burden. At least in places such as these, maybe they wouldn't be keeping people awake at night listening to the pulsating howl. The headache in the morning after clenching your teeth all night: can't ignore it. Too big and loud to ignore. Not once could I find that the public is taken into account in the 174 or so pages of the wind energy company's application for "public necessity." One can read pages and pages of the possible effects on the bat population or birds. Even the grouse. And yet, if there was one word or mention given to the possible physical effects on the human population, I couldn't find it. We are the guinea pigs. Unless you live in it, how could you possibly know what it's like? People stop here frequently, pull in the drive during the afternoon to listen. I don’t really mind; they're just curious. They often comment that they seem quiet. "Should have been here around 2:00 A.M or whatever time it was the night before when they woke me up," is my usual response. I've often heard people say, “We parked right under one so we could listen." Of course I have to expain how sound travels. I then ask them to go 1000 feet in all directions and listen to the same turbine, then come back here and we’ll talk. Before they pull their car away, I usually hear, "I’m so sorry!" ---Joan Lagerman 8/23/09 ·]]> 3724 2009-08-24 10:30:56 2009-08-24 14:30:56 open open guinea-pig-wisconsin publish 0 0 post 0 _edit_lock 1267381742 _edit_last 1 4831 lagerman53@aol.com 98.135.30.230 2009-08-25 03:37:21 2009-08-25 07:37:21 Editor's reply: I am not a clinician, as you know, hence I can't answer your question about the fibromyalgia. Nina has brought up the fibromyalgia in conversation with me a number of times, and she suspects there is a connection. Whatever the connection may be eludes her. The rhythmic pulsing akin to a light pumping on your back: this is a common symptom of WTS and is included, I believe, in the Visceral Vibratory Vestibular Disturbance (VVVD) that Nina talks about. Hopefully, with the publication of Nina's book, those turbines will get turned off and your life will go back to being normal. "I couldn’t understand why I was suddenly feeling very unwell." (United Kingdom) http://www.kselected.com/?p=3876 Mon, 31 Aug 2009 13:20:57 +0000 http://www.windturbinesyndrome.com/?p=3876 ---Gwen Burkhardt, UK (reprinted from WalesOnline.co.uk, with appreciation) 6/6/05 There seems to be a great deal of controversy about the effect of wind turbine noises on human health. I can assure everyone who needs to know, that some people like myself have found it impossible to live near them. I had lived on our family farm for 27 years. I was living in the community where I grew up and where some of my family still live. We had invested a great deal of our time into our home, and had even built a retirement home for ourselves, the place where I wished to spend the rest of my life. However, in 2001, three massive wind turbines were erected within a mile of our home. I wasn’t very concerned about them, at the start. Having been in the best of health, thankfully, for most of my life, I couldn’t understand why I was suddenly feeling very unwell for no apparent reason. Racing pulse, heart palpitations, a strange churning in my head, a feeling of nausea, a terrible unease and a need to escape. Sleep became difficult too. I visited my doctor on several occasions, but she found nothing. It took me about ten months to realise that there was a connection between my illness and the low-frequency noise emitting from the wind turbines. At first I realised that, when I was away from home, I suddenly felt “normal” again, which was a wonderful feeling, believe me. I had suffered from tinnitus before this time and had been examined by a consultant at Glangwili Hospital. He gave me hearing tests and declared that I could hear very well, indeed especially in the low frequency range. Then I realised that when the turbines had their back towards me was when I felt most unwell. I kept a diary of my illness, and I wrote to my MP. I did not want to leave my home, but eventually, after talking to another woman who had suffered the same symptoms as me, living near other turbines, I eventually had to face the fact the wretched things were there to stay and that we would have to move. Now, 18 months later, after the trauma of leaving my home, I am again, thankfully, in the best of health. Low-frequency sound sufferers exist. I also suffer from the low sound emitted by aeroplanes. Before I can actually hear them I "feel" them approaching, then I hear them and then I "feel" them retreating. Like everyone else I spoke to living near wind turbines, I could not hear any noise at all in the conventional way, not any sound at all. I have no axe to grind in this argument, I simply left. But these wind turbines should not be built so near to people’s homes. ·]]> 3876 2009-08-31 09:20:57 2009-08-31 13:20:57 open open gwen-burkhardt publish 0 0 post 0 _edit_lock 1267381704 _edit_last 1 Guinea-Pig-UK http://www.kselected.com/?attachment_id=3879 Tue, 01 Sep 2009 22:07:53 +0000 http://www.windturbinesyndrome.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Guinea-Pig-UK.jpg 3879 2009-09-01 18:07:53 2009-09-01 22:07:53 open open guinea-pig-uk inherit 3876 0 attachment 0 http://www.kselected.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Guinea-Pig-UK.jpg _wp_attached_file 2009/08/Guinea-Pig-UK.jpg _wp_attachment_metadata a:6:{s:5:"width";s:3:"411";s:6:"height";s:3:"359";s:14:"hwstring_small";s:23:"height='96' width='109'";s:4:"file";s:25:"2009/08/Guinea-Pig-UK.jpg";s:5:"sizes";a:2:{s:9:"thumbnail";a:3:{s:4:"file";s:25:"Guinea-Pig-UK-150x131.jpg";s:5:"width";s:3:"150";s:6:"height";s:3:"131";}s:6:"medium";a:3:{s:4:"file";s:25:"Guinea-Pig-UK-300x262.jpg";s:5:"width";s:3:"300";s:6:"height";s:3:"262";}}s:10:"image_meta";a:10:{s:8:"aperture";s:1:"0";s:6:"credit";s:0:"";s:6:"camera";s:0:"";s:7:"caption";s:0:"";s:17:"created_timestamp";s:1:"0";s:9:"copyright";s:0:"";s:12:"focal_length";s:1:"0";s:3:"iso";s:1:"0";s:13:"shutter_speed";s:1:"0";s:5:"title";s:0:"";}} d'Entremont home, Nova Scotia http://www.kselected.com/?attachment_id=3893 Fri, 04 Sep 2009 20:21:54 +0000 http://www.windturbinesyndrome.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/dEntremont-447x483-b.jpg 3893 2009-09-04 16:21:54 2009-09-04 20:21:54 open open dentremont-447x483-b inherit 2825 0 attachment 0 http://www.kselected.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/dEntremont-447x483-b.jpg _wp_attached_file 2009/09/dEntremont-447x483-b.jpg _wp_attachment_metadata a:6:{s:5:"width";s:3:"447";s:6:"height";s:3:"483";s:14:"hwstring_small";s:22:"height='96' width='88'";s:4:"file";s:32:"2009/09/dEntremont-447x483-b.jpg";s:5:"sizes";a:2:{s:9:"thumbnail";a:3:{s:4:"file";s:32:"dEntremont-447x483-b-138x150.jpg";s:5:"width";s:3:"138";s:6:"height";s:3:"150";}s:6:"medium";a:3:{s:4:"file";s:32:"dEntremont-447x483-b-277x300.jpg";s:5:"width";s:3:"277";s:6:"height";s:3:"300";}}s:10:"image_meta";a:10:{s:8:"aperture";s:1:"0";s:6:"credit";s:0:"";s:6:"camera";s:0:"";s:7:"caption";s:0:"";s:17:"created_timestamp";s:1:"0";s:9:"copyright";s:0:"";s:12:"focal_length";s:1:"0";s:3:"iso";s:1:"0";s:13:"shutter_speed";s:1:"0";s:5:"title";s:0:"";}} New-Zealand-guinea-pig-411x359 http://www.kselected.com/?attachment_id=3913 Thu, 10 Sep 2009 19:39:05 +0000 http://www.windturbinesyndrome.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/New-Zealand-guinea-pig-411x359.jpg 3913 2009-09-10 15:39:05 2009-09-10 19:39:05 open open new-zealand-guinea-pig-411x359 inherit 3912 0 attachment 0 http://www.kselected.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/New-Zealand-guinea-pig-411x359.jpg _wp_attached_file 2009/09/New-Zealand-guinea-pig-411x359.jpg _wp_attachment_metadata a:6:{s:5:"width";s:3:"411";s:6:"height";s:3:"359";s:14:"hwstring_small";s:23:"height='96' width='109'";s:4:"file";s:42:"2009/09/New-Zealand-guinea-pig-411x359.jpg";s:5:"sizes";a:2:{s:9:"thumbnail";a:3:{s:4:"file";s:42:"New-Zealand-guinea-pig-411x359-150x131.jpg";s:5:"width";s:3:"150";s:6:"height";s:3:"131";}s:6:"medium";a:3:{s:4:"file";s:42:"New-Zealand-guinea-pig-411x359-300x262.jpg";s:5:"width";s:3:"300";s:6:"height";s:3:"262";}}s:10:"image_meta";a:10:{s:8:"aperture";s:1:"0";s:6:"credit";s:0:"";s:6:"camera";s:0:"";s:7:"caption";s:0:"";s:17:"created_timestamp";s:1:"0";s:9:"copyright";s:0:"";s:12:"focal_length";s:1:"0";s:3:"iso";s:1:"0";s:13:"shutter_speed";s:1:"0";s:5:"title";s:0:"";}} "Some people feel the vibration in their spine and chest" (New Zealand) http://www.kselected.com/?p=3912 Thu, 10 Sep 2009 19:40:08 +0000 http://www.windturbinesyndrome.com/?p=3912 Ashhurst man Harvey Jones has sounded a warning about what Turitea [NZ] residents could be in for if a wind farm gets the go-ahead there. Yesterday, he described to the board of inquiry considering the Turitea proposal how he would hear a ‘‘low rumble like a train’’ and a noise ‘‘sometimes like a jet flying over the top’’. ‘‘It can be worse. It can be a roar,’’ he said. ‘‘Some people in Ashhurst can feel the vibration in their spine . . . in their chest.’’ He lived about 2.8 kilometres from the Te Apiti wind farm. Turbines should be at least 3km from houses, he said. Mr Jones had lived in Ashhurst for 20 years and said he would stay. ‘‘I’ve built my house and my life in Ashhurst.’’ ---Manawatu Standard 9/5/09 ·]]> 3912 2009-09-10 15:40:08 2009-09-10 19:40:08 open "Wave after wave of nausea awakened me" (Ontario, Canada) http://www.kselected.com/?p=3949 Sun, 13 Sep 2009 13:30:21 +0000 http://www.windturbinesyndrome.com/?p=3949 · (Based on photo by the IndyStar.com, with appreciation) Wave after wave of nausea awakened me around 5 am. Since I won't take drugs, no matter what I did, I couldn't settle the nausea. My ears were stuffed. I was just as tired as at 11 pm (bedtime), when I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer nor hold my head up. (I was trying to answer an e-mail but just could not.) By 7 am I was completely distraught. Many of my muscles would not cooperate. I was shaking and almost blubbering when I called the Ministry of the Environment (MoE) and spoke to X, who advised me to "pull myself together." I replied that I was going to leave my home. I drove shakily the 15 km to my son's and begged him to drive me to Simcoe, 50 km from my home and the turbines. Soon, I started to feel better, well enough to call X at MoE. I was composed and able to answer the questions for his report. (Another report, however, is not going to bring about a permanent answer to the debilitating effects these 18 wind turbines, within 3 km of my home, are having on my body.) My son drove back to his home and I had a short window of time to safely (?) drive back to my home, steeling myself to the ringing in the ears, loss of muscle control, and the inability to write this email. 12:30 pm, a computer glitch prevented me from sending this email and so, slowly and laboriously, I have pecked my way through it again. Still coherent at 4 pm, but I don't know whether I'll be able to stay here the whole day. I'm at a loss about a life-saving strategy. Please reply with your suggestions. Sincerely, Stephana Johnston Norfolk, Ontario Canada 9/12/09
A local group says they were ignorant about the health effects wind turbines have on humans and they now want them gone. The “Norfolk Victims of Industrial Turbines” group spoke to council last night at the town hall meeting in Vittoria. Member Stephana Johnston says she dreads being at home because she says she’s being tortured while she’s there due to the low frequency vibrations. Norfolk Mayor Dennis Travale says the provincial government’s Green Energy Act essentially takes away the authority of local councils on the matter. Simply put, a developer can go and make an arrangement with a landowners and has free rein and there’s really nothing council can do to stop them. Anyone wishing to have their health concerns heard should contact the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and copy the Premier. Johnston says she’s been “green” for many years and admits she was originally in favor of the turbines but has since changed her mind once she found out the health risks posed to residents who live nearby. ---Adam Liefl (cd989.com) 9/11/09 ·

WHEREAS, proposals to locate and build wind energy facilities in the State have at times proven controversial, due to concerns regarding potential effects of such facilities on the public health; and WHEREAS, the trade off between the public good of generating electricity and the adverse health effects warrant appropriate evidence-based scientific research; and WHEREAS, assessing the potential health impact of wind turbines has been difficult to measure but if present would be of significant concern, and this is especially apparent regarding the noise level and other noise characteristics specific to industrial wind turbines; and WHEREAS, there is a need for modification of the State’s regulatory process for siting wind energy developments to reduce the potential for controversy regarding siting of grid-scale wind energy development and to address health controversy with regulatory changes to include, but not limited to: Refining certain procedures of the Maine Department of Environmental Protection and the Maine Land Use Regulation Commission to reflect scientific evidence regarding potential health effects and to further explore such potential health effects; Judging the effects of wind energy development on potential public health by avoiding unreasonable noise and shadow flicker effects, with development setbacks and incorporating up-to-date noise regulations specific for industrial wind turbines adequate to protect public health and safety; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Maine Medical Association work with health organizations and regulatory agencies to provide scientific information of known medical consequences of wind development in order to help safeguard human health and the environment; AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Maine Medical Association: 1) work with other stakeholders to encourage performance of studies on health effects of wind turbine generation by independent qualified researchers at qualified research institutions; 2) ensure that physicians and patients alike are informed of evidence-based research results.

"He decided to move out even if he cannot sell." (Australia) http://www.kselected.com/?p=4018 Mon, 21 Sep 2009 12:00:42 +0000 http://www.windturbinesyndrome.com/?p=4018 ---Debra Jopson, The Sydney Morning Herald (8/21/09) George McLaughlin’s property has been on the market for five months, but after his new neighbour, Capital Wind Farm, fired up its turbines about a month ago, he decided to move out even if he cannot sell. While Kevin Rudd was pushing global solutions for climate change in New York at the weekend, in NSW the battle between wind farms as planet-saving sources of renewable energy and residents who say they destroy rural life is coming to a head. “It is like having a washing machine run constantly, or a car idling outside your window, or an aircraft overhead which stays in one position. It is a constant drone which is quite disturbing,” said Mr. McLaughlin, who with wife, Sue, and son, Duncan, moved 50 kilometres northeast of Canberra eight years ago for the peace of tiny Tarago. While the McLaughlins plan to leave rather than litigate, across NSW landholders near turbines the height of 40-storey buildings are talking financial compensation, and a group near Goulburn has begun legal action it hopes will be a test case. The Taralga Landscape Guardians took on the Planning Minister, Kristina Keneally, and energy company RES Southern Cross in the Land and Environment Court. The court found “on balance, the broader public good must prevail” and approved a wind farm near the Southern Highlands heritage town of Taralga. But it also ordered the energy company must offer to buy at market value the four land-holdings most affected by the sight, noise and “shadow flicker” of the industrial turbines. Now about 40 landholders from the Parkesbourne-Mummel Landscape Guardians have begun proceedings in the same court over the $250 million Gullen Range wind farm near Goulburn for which Epuron has won state planning approval. “We’d like to establish a general principle for compensation. This was explicitly rejected by the judge in the Taralga case,” said the group’s deputy chairman, David Brooks. The State Government has approved nine wind farms in five years, with six more before the Department of Planning. This has produced an outcry from residents in the Upper Hunter, New England, Central Tablelands and Canberra-NSW border areas. Residents have complained to a NSW Parliament inquiry that buffer zones are not big enough. “There is an expectation of government that near neighbours of wind farms will pay a significant part of the cost due to loss of property values and impact on their lives, with no compensation. I think that is appalling,” said Mr. McLaughlin, who is a consultant on using the Internet for global good. Epuron said in its inquiry submission that four in every five people surveyed in rural communities support wind energy development and “the few loud voices opposing wind farms are disproportionate to the actual views of the entire community." No study anywhere has ever shown a measurable reduction in property values, it said. Infigen Energy, which owns Capital Wind Farm, said in some rural property ads, wind farm views were used as a selling point. Infigen also said: “There is little doubt that in an ideal world locating wind farms in areas with lower population densities is desirable.” However, most were not viable in remote areas because of the high cost of connecting two lines and the electricity lost transmitting over long distances.]]> 4018 2009-09-21 08:00:42 2009-09-21 12:00:42 open open he-decided-to-move-out-even-if-he-cannot-sell-australia publish 0 0 post 0 _edit_lock 1267381478 _edit_last 1 Guinea-pig-and-turbine http://www.kselected.com/?attachment_id=4019 Mon, 21 Sep 2009 22:25:01 +0000 http://www.windturbinesyndrome.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/Guinea-pig-and-turbine.jpg 4019 2009-09-21 18:25:01 2009-09-21 22:25:01 open open guinea-pig-and-turbine inherit 4018 0 attachment 0 http://www.kselected.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/Guinea-pig-and-turbine.jpg _wp_attached_file 2009/09/Guinea-pig-and-turbine.jpg _wp_attachment_metadata a:6:{s:5:"width";s:3:"447";s:6:"height";s:3:"390";s:14:"hwstring_small";s:23:"height='96' width='110'";s:4:"file";s:34:"2009/09/Guinea-pig-and-turbine.jpg";s:5:"sizes";a:2:{s:9:"thumbnail";a:3:{s:4:"file";s:34:"Guinea-pig-and-turbine-150x130.jpg";s:5:"width";s:3:"150";s:6:"height";s:3:"130";}s:6:"medium";a:3:{s:4:"file";s:34:"Guinea-pig-and-turbine-300x261.jpg";s:5:"width";s:3:"300";s:6:"height";s:3:"261";}}s:10:"image_meta";a:10:{s:8:"aperture";s:1:"0";s:6:"credit";s:0:"";s:6:"camera";s:0:"";s:7:"caption";s:0:"";s:17:"created_timestamp";s:1:"0";s:9:"copyright";s:0:"";s:12:"focal_length";s:1:"0";s:3:"iso";s:1:"0";s:13:"shutter_speed";s:1:"0";s:5:"title";s:0:"";}} Turbines-Indiana-copyright-The-Indianapolis-Star-IndyStar.com-8-9-09-c http://www.kselected.com/?attachment_id=4028 Mon, 21 Sep 2009 23:45:53 +0000 http://www.windturbinesyndrome.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/Turbines-Indiana-copyright-The-Indianapolis-Star-IndyStar.com-8-9-09-c.JPG 4028 2009-09-21 19:45:53 2009-09-21 23:45:53 open open turbines-indiana-copyright-the-indianapolis-star-indystar-com-8-9-09-c inherit 3947 0 attachment 0 http://www.kselected.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/Turbines-Indiana-copyright-The-Indianapolis-Star-IndyStar.com-8-9-09-c.JPG _wp_attached_file 2009/09/Turbines-Indiana-copyright-The-Indianapolis-Star-IndyStar.com-8-9-09-c.JPG _wp_attachment_metadata a:6:{s:5:"width";s:3:"447";s:6:"height";s:3:"304";s:14:"hwstring_small";s:23:"height='87' width='128'";s:4:"file";s:82:"2009/09/Turbines-Indiana-copyright-The-Indianapolis-Star-IndyStar.com-8-9-09-c.JPG";s:5:"sizes";a:2:{s:9:"thumbnail";a:3:{s:4:"file";s:82:"Turbines-Indiana-copyright-The-Indianapolis-Star-IndyStar.com-8-9-09-c-150x102.jpg";s:5:"width";s:3:"150";s:6:"height";s:3:"102";}s:6:"medium";a:3:{s:4:"file";s:82:"Turbines-Indiana-copyright-The-Indianapolis-Star-IndyStar.com-8-9-09-c-300x204.jpg";s:5:"width";s:3:"300";s:6:"height";s:3:"204";}}s:10:"image_meta";a:10:{s:8:"aperture";s:1:"0";s:6:"credit";s:0:"";s:6:"camera";s:0:"";s:7:"caption";s:0:"";s:17:"created_timestamp";s:1:"0";s:9:"copyright";s:0:"";s:12:"focal_length";s:1:"0";s:3:"iso";s:1:"0";s:13:"shutter_speed";s:1:"0";s:5:"title";s:0:"";}} WINDCOWS-photo-and-guinea-pig-b-447x400 http://www.kselected.com/?attachment_id=4031 Wed, 23 Sep 2009 00:27:29 +0000 http://www.windturbinesyndrome.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/WINDCOWS-photo-and-guinea-pig-b-447x400.jpg 4031 2009-09-22 20:27:29 2009-09-23 00:27:29 open open windcows-photo-and-guinea-pig-b-447x400 inherit 4030 0 attachment 0 http://www.kselected.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/WINDCOWS-photo-and-guinea-pig-b-447x400.jpg _wp_attached_file 2009/09/WINDCOWS-photo-and-guinea-pig-b-447x400.jpg _wp_attachment_metadata a:6:{s:5:"width";s:3:"447";s:6:"height";s:3:"400";s:14:"hwstring_small";s:23:"height='96' width='107'";s:4:"file";s:51:"2009/09/WINDCOWS-photo-and-guinea-pig-b-447x400.jpg";s:5:"sizes";a:2:{s:9:"thumbnail";a:3:{s:4:"file";s:51:"WINDCOWS-photo-and-guinea-pig-b-447x400-150x134.jpg";s:5:"width";s:3:"150";s:6:"height";s:3:"134";}s:6:"medium";a:3:{s:4:"file";s:51:"WINDCOWS-photo-and-guinea-pig-b-447x400-300x268.jpg";s:5:"width";s:3:"300";s:6:"height";s:3:"268";}}s:10:"image_meta";a:10:{s:8:"aperture";s:1:"9";s:6:"credit";s:0:"";s:6:"camera";s:27:"Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XSi";s:7:"caption";s:0:"";s:17:"created_timestamp";s:10:"1259367379";s:9:"copyright";s:0:"";s:12:"focal_length";s:2:"70";s:3:"iso";s:3:"200";s:13:"shutter_speed";s:8:"0.003125";s:5:"title";s:0:"";}} "We’re still ill. ---The Chatham Daily News (9/22/09)

A Blenheim woman claims her family is still suffering effects from a nearby wind farm. Kruger Energy’s 44-turbine Port Alma project became operational last year. Nikki Horton, who filed a complaint with the Montreal-based company, said the wind farm is impacting her family’s quality of life, with symptoms such as headaches and fatigue. “We’re still ill. We’re still sleep deprived,” she said. “Our children are still experiencing problems.” Horton said Kruger conducted a noise report earlier this year. She received the results recently. “It left me with a lot of unanswered questions,” she said. “They seem to be trying to blame our problems on other things, but we’re pretty sure it’s the wind turbines.” Horton said she is planning to soundproof her home since she doesn’t want to move. Some of these measures include triple-paned windows and new insulation. “We’re hoping that will help,” she said. Horton believes wind energy supporters are pushing forward without seeing the impact on residents. “Turning a blind eye to all these people who are having problems is not going to make it go away,” she said. Blenheim’s Pam Mazerolle also sent a letter to Kruger on the issues she and her husband are having. She said they’ve been having headaches that even their doctor can’t explain. “We also have a big concern regarding our property value, now that these turbines are in our backyard the value has gone down. Ask yourself, ‘Would you want to live this close to them?’” she wrote. “Please don’t get us wrong, we are all for green energy, anything to help the planet, it has been damaged enough. But when do we say, ‘Wait a minute our health and way of life comes first?’” Mazerolle said she’s also seen a change of behaviour in her horse, which “seemed more jumpy,” and would pace around in circles at night. Jean Majeau, Kruger VP for Communications Jean Majeau, Kruger’s senior vice-president of communications, said the matter was investigated. He said it was also reported to the Ontario Ministry of the Environment. “We had one turbine that was not properly working,” he said. “The corrections have been made and we had also done an independent study that everything had come back to normal." "As far as we are concerned, the file is closed."]]>

· Ontario's "Chuckleheads of the Environment" first tell the wind developers their turbines can't exceed a certain noise limit. (Now get ready to wet your pants.) Then they turn around and tell the people going bonkers from turbine noise that the Ministry has, um, no realistic way of measuring (monitoring) turbine noise

Which means that wind energy in the once reputable Province of Ontario is a free-for-all.

"What, me worry?"

(Just when you thought The Three Stooges had gone off the air for good, they're back as McGuinty, Smitherman, and Gerretsen, LLC.) Don't laugh too hard, dear reader, ‘cause your government also doesn't have a clue how to do these measurements. It's a free-for-all everywhere. Wet your pants again. ·]]>

I’m asked to send the survey to people who live anywhere from 400 metres to over 2 kilometres from industrial wind turbines and I’m asked to send them to every wind project in southern Ontario. Many welcomed “green energy” into their community, although some felt unease at a 400-foot tower with its massive base being placed so close to their home. They were reassured by the wind company that the turbines were as quiet as a whisper in a library and would be no trouble. First comes the construction period with loads and loads of concrete, steel, transportation of massive turbine parts, new transmission lines, access roads and transformer stations. Then the turbines start up. Some people have problems immediately, some find it takes days, weeks or a few months to start to feel the effects. Symptoms dissipate or disappear when they leave their home but return when they go back. The people who are home the most tend to feel the effects quickly and more severely; stay at home moms, young children, retired people, people working from home, but it most certainly isn’t limited to that group. The #1 problem is sleep deprivation night after night after night from both audible noise and from a “humming” that seems to come up through the pillow. The severity of this changes with the weather and wind speed. Other problems that many experience are headaches, tinnitus, unexplained anxiety, muscle and joint aches and hypertensive episodes. Some talk about feeling their own heart trying to beat in time with the rotating turbines. Some have sores that won’t heal, earaches and chest pain. Why don’t these people just tell the authorities about what is going on? We have regulations and standards in Ontario, don’t we? People who are brave enough to come forward to say that wind turbines are causing problems are told they are the only family having a problem, that they are overly sensitive or chronic complainers. Sound tests drag on for weeks, then months as the person’s health deteriorates by increments every day. I have personally seen two noise test results, the testing done by wind company testers, well over compliance for sound allowed. The results were dismissed. Our government has taken their information from the wind industry, CanWEA, instead of doing its own homework. In fact, the first name on the first draft of the Green Energy Act, the act that stripped municipalities of any say in wind turbine installations, is OSEA, the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association, made up of mainly wind industry people. There is constant denial of adverse health effects from the wind industry and this government is allowing them to make those claims. What the wind industry uses to deny adverse health effects is engineering noise modeling and literature review. Neither the government nor the wind industry has a proper study on human beings by health professionals in spite of repeated requests for just this action from over 40 municipalities, the OFA, health units and hundreds of individuals. There are under 700 turbines currently operating in Ontario at this time. Over 100 people have taken the time to fill in a three-page survey and mail it to me. I’ve lost track of the number of people who haven’t filled out a survey but who have called or e-mailed to tell me of the problems they are having with their health since the start-up of turbines in their area. I have no idea how many families have quietly moved away. I don’t know how many can’t afford to do that and are trying to cope any way they can, some by sleeping in a tent or in their vehicle, some by renting another place or by staying with family. Those experiencing health difficulties and having to find another place to sleep or recover includes people who have turbines on their farms. How does one respond to the letter, below? (Click here for the original text.) From Sharon Ward in Texas. About Vibroacoustic Disease (VAD) caused by low frequency noise (LFN) from natural gas compressors. One hundred thirty compressors in her county. Sharon says a member of their group (Citizens for Environmental Cleanup) has been diagnosed with VAD by Dr. Debbie Wright, a cardiologist in Lafayette, IN. Dr. Wright has studied with the Portuguese VAD group, led by pathologist N. A. A. Castello Branco. (See NAA Castelo Branco and M Alves-Pereira, "Vibroacoustic disease," Noise Health 6:23 [2004]: 3-20.) Dr. Wright understands VAD. So does Dr. Pierpont, although she claims no special expertise in it. (Click here to read what Pierpont has written about VAD in her WTS book.) So how does one reply to this letter? Where is the National Institutes of Health? The CDC? The Texas Department of Health. Where are all the Texas doctors? Understand that Sharon is not talking about wind turbines. Nor is VAD likely to be a significant element in Wind Turbine Syndrome, argues Pierpont. VAD is, however, acknowledged in numerous European countries as a genuine industrial disease. Moreover, Dr. Pierpont will tell you that any physician worth her (his) salt listens to people like Sharon Ward, taking their complaints seriously. It's only quacks, light-weights, the callous, or the poorly trained who brush them off---because they're frightened by the symptoms and know they can't figure them out. Or they're shills for industry. Or just plain insensitive. Nina Pierpont is a country doctor. Just one person. How on earth can she shoulder this huge undertaking in addition to WTS and having a full medical practice? On the other hand, if she won't, who will? Who has? Where's the government? What's it for? What is the government doing? (Obama, are you reading this? And if not, why not?)
And whoever walks a furlong without sympathy walks to his own funeral drest in his shroud. ---Walt Whitman, "Leaves of Grass"
---the Editor »»»»»»»»»»»»»»» September 26, 2009 Dear Dr. Pierpont, I would like to thank you for making time to read this. Also, for your excellent work on WTS. It is so similar to VAD Vibroacoustic Disease caused by low frequency noise. Initially identified in the aeronautical field, by military pilots and aircrew. I am sure you are aware ofVieques, Puerto Rico studies. The Navy bought the end of this small island for artillery practice. Poor people lived at the other end of the island. They have since suffered high cancer rates, heart problems, internal problems, and low birth weights. I live in Texas, the state with the most gas wells (95,000+). The gas from the wells is piped to compressor stations. Our county has 130 or more compressor stations. The low frequency noise travels up to 5 miles radius, thereby overlapping. Our director, Charles Morgan, has been diagnosed with VAD by a Dr. Wright in Indiana. Feel so bad for him. Sometimes he drives 150 miles just to sleep. His eardrums have burst twice. He has very bad headaches and burning in his veins. We have tried all means to get to get Noise Law (1982) given to states re-enacted, to no avail. We have tried to get school districts to have a noise assessment. We have been to Austin to see Representatives and Senators. We are not trying to stop big oil & gas, just get them to give up some of those billions in profit and do the responsible thing by enclosing, or using noise abatement, on these compressor stations. Yes, even the rural ones. To protect us and the wildlife. Could I be so bold to ask if you could do a paper or write something on this subject you know so much about? Please help us! I wear earphones and take [redacted] medicine, and can't afford to move away. Enclosed please find our brochure. Thank you again for your time. Sincerely Sharon Ward, Secretary Fairfield, TX 75840 ·]]>
